I am a Lecturer at the Department of Sociology and member of the Centre for Criminology at the University of Essex. Previously, I was a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the Latin American Centre at the University of Oxford. My research interests are democratic governance, criminology, and civil-military relations.

From 2015 to 2017 I was a Research Fellow in Public Policy and Associate Lecturer at the Department of Politics in the University of York researching and teaching on local governance, policing, crime, and public policy.
I received my BA (2007) and MA (2011) from Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and PhD from the University of York (2016).
