Carlos Solar is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the Latin American Centre in the University of Oxford. His research interests are democratic governance, criminology, and civil-military relations.

Carlos is currently writing-up a book project tentatively entitled, Cybersecurity Governance: States and Digital Space, under contract with Lynne Rienner.
From 2015 to 2017 he was a Research Fellow in Public Policy and an Associate Lecturer at the Department of Politics in the University of York researching and teaching on local governance, policing, crime, and public policy.
Carlos received his BA (2007) and MA (2011) from Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and his PhD from the University of York (2016).
